TheEN Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Sung-tak) participated in H2 MEET 2023, held from September 13 (Wednesday) to September 15 (Friday) at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

TheEN is a technology-based venture company that has provided engineering solutions to address social issues related to energy. The company is particularly focused on the development of high-efficiency, low-cost electrolysis technology to expand the production and economic viability of green hydrogen, a rapidly emerging future clean energy source.

Additionally, the company has independently developed hydrogen explosion prevention oxygen removal catalysts and hydrogen removal catalysts, which are applicable to aerospace, submarine, and nuclear technologies. These catalysts have passed performance verification and are attracting attention in the relevant industries.

At this exhibition, TheEN showcased its research and development achievements in the hydrogen industry. The oxygen removal catalyst they introduced is a technology that eliminates the potential for explosion caused by the mixing of hydrogen, separated in the electrolysis system, with oxygen. Using heterogeneous nano-catalyst technology for spontaneous chemical reactions, the catalyst can control the oxygen concentration (the cause of hydrogen explosion risk) to below 5ppm. Unlike other technologies, it is less affected by external factors such as load fluctuations and pressure changes.

TheEN also presented its alkaline electrolysis electrode manufacturing technology, which forms a layered double hydroxide (LDH) structure to improve the efficiency of oxygen evolution reactions (OER). This catalytic electrode maximizes the efficiency of oxygen generation. By transferring electrode manufacturing technology from the Korea Institute of Energy Technology, the company was able to complete large-area electrodes with excellent performance and durability. The company also claims a cost reduction of around 80%, as well as high durability even when using renewable energy sources with significant power fluctuations.
